  • Never Offer Your Heart to Someone Who Eats Hearts

    April 1st, 2015

In Honor of National Poetry Month before -the writers Burst into writing with first sign of ink ,I thought of Alice Walker

    by Alice Walker:

    Never offer your heart
    to someone who eats hearts
    who finds heartmeat
    delicious
    but not rare
    who sucks the juices
    drop by drop
    and bloody-chinned
    grins
    like a God.

    Never offer your heart
    to a heart gravy lover.
    Your stewed, overseasoned
    heart consumed
he will sop up your grief
    with bread
    and send it shuttling
    from side to side
    in his mouth
    like bubblegum.

    If you find yourself
    in love
    with a person
    who eats hearts
    these things
    you must do.

    Freeze your heart
    immediately.
    Let him—next time
    he examines your chest—
    find your heart cold
    flinty and unappetizing.

    Refrain from kissing
    lest he in revenge
    dampen the spark
    in your soul.

    Now,
    sail away to Africa
    where holy women
    await you
    on the shore—
    long having practiced the art
    of replacing hearts
    with God and Song.

    Inside my dreams

I will always be the twirling ballerina

Watering the curly sides of my wasteline

    Inside of times ageless eyes

    I’m a just a tiny girl

growing up to be the baddest superhero!

I’m just a girl taking on the world

In and out of motions suppressed

    I’ll practice my line,

    I’ll sing my tune

and dare any man “to play me for the fool!”…

  • Mercy Seat

    March 16th, 2015
    In the attic my sanctuary
    under the mercy seat
    enchanted voices blossom
I hear you calling me, through the gates of praise
                                 Into the holies of holies
                                 I’ll find me,here I stand,
                                 I belong with you,
No more excuse,I laid it down
So here I stand under the mercy seat,
you are my only guide ,my inner source
you in me and I in you

    1. Love is my feel-good tea.
    2. My Sunday Morning Hey-Ya,
    3.  My shake and bake,
    4. Love is the things I can not see.
    5. Love is my power, no man can control
    6. Love is letting go.
    7. Love is effortless.
    8. Love is how the trees are made.
    9. Love is my whirlwind
    10. Love is leaping through the universe.

  • (Day 10 Future) Coral Reefs

    February 27th, 2015
     Steel blue salt,
In the waters that doth not stale.
The greatest fear is to fail.
    Salt blue steel.
     Soulful lessons with each tide.
Till I, shake the need for dying.
Til I, manifest, solid visions of my dreams.
Til the Urchins of the sea, find a home past the thieves.
Caught between the thickets of its kind.
    Reeled forward holding lines.
    Hook in gills
    Gills in hooks
      Reflections, of unsung stories
    all that lies before me
     tis but, Pearls of Opportunities.

  • Day 7(Fingers) Split Ends

    February 24th, 2015

Complicated as brushing maybe.Parting hairs was the least of their worries.Unleavened bread will be buttered with sunken stories. Told by the ancestors, drumming pasts slumber and sleep.Rumbling giants speaking into the deep.Plumbing through youthful cries, burdens no mans able to gutter. Oh inner guide, please do not stutter, plain speech, I beseech you utter.

Today’s device assonance, form is poetry prose I tried with using (U sound ) The meaning is related to a dream I had of the drum sound in my sleep. Happy Writing…

    February 20th, 2015

    Naw,naw naw.

Don’t go crying down my kitchen sink.

    Shadow-calling God in Make believe.

    Somewhere past the moon squares.

Where men are made of snow.

    Fiery rains a comin,

Ya can’t fix stupid,  everywhere you go.
