My tribe is blue,
my hands are thick as cowhides.
My tongue- stolen and replaced
and yet I remain
strong and
willing with the ocean’s saltiness and care.
She carries my arms when I get to heavy to swim.
Hunting down the storms on the inside.
Praying that, our dream withstands the flames,
withstand the flames ♥

I think of poets as outlaw visionaries in a way.

I wish them cramps.
I wish them a strange town
and the last tampon.
I wish them no 7-11.I wish them one week early
and wearing a white skirt.
I wish them one week late.later I wish them hot flashes
and clots like you
wouldn’t believe. let the
flashes come when they
meet someone special.
let the clots come
when they want to.let them think they have accepted
arrogance in the universe,
then bring them to gynecologists
not unlike themselves.”

- Stop running my pinky toe over on my office chair
- kick it, kick the closet door and feel better
- play more old school rap – and write to the beat
- go on a writer’s retreat
- stop browsing Netflix, twitter, Pinterest and write
- laugh really hard and loud
- Take long deep breaths and smell the world around me

My one wing friend, it was not I but the wind.
From the mighty trees, you rumbled.
My heart has pieces that are no longer here.
You must be insane if you dare to keep flying.
I hear you singing, and flapping about.
Say it a little more
I love you.
Cry if you must,
with no regrets, lest fear tumbled home
And caging chains humbled their bars.
And mumbling dreams are forgotten.

Pressing elasticity, stripping threads,
Gently shaping wet paint,
I came up short. Then I learn to stretch out
shiny tin cans, crush them for recycling.
And don’t let anyone, not even me
Define You. ♥

My voice has joined the heavy cow skins -I can feel the earth. I’ve fought so hard not to fight. And yet this mud is cold. We are sinking and rising until (the earth) has had enough. I was told there are no cures for suffering. Desperate to be good, to be whole, to be found.
