I can’t say I have one favorite book , that’s just not fair to the many others. So charge it to my head & not my heart. This week I spent some much needed time reading.
I have to agree with you Krissy. There are too many genres and a plethora of books I cannot say is my favorite, not to be fickle about it. 🙂 I just finish reading a book of poetry by Joy Harjo “How We Became Human.” I am currently reading “Just As I Am” by Cicely Tyson as well and she has hooked me, starting with Viola Davis’ Foreward.
Reading is like a mini vacation for me. I like different genres and different authors based on their unique storylines and word usage. I don’t think anyone would charge your heart for not belting out which book is your favorite because you have an artistically adventurous heart for stories across the board! ❤ 😀 ❤ You can have many favorites, just because you can! 😉
You are so right, & honey I’m with you! Viola Davis’ forward – got me all in my feelings. That is say, Cicely is a pure genius- and even that is an understatement. I’m glad you point that out- you have way of encouraging not only me, but the masses. I truly, appreciate that. You know I ‘m so glad you’ve reminded me of Joy Harjo’s book, that’s is also on my to do list. along with your book of poetry- “Wings of the Wind” It’s like walking into a virtual book store, and being swept away with all of the beautiful writers out there. You nailed it! I 100% agree – I’ll sit in the bathtub or in a closet these days reading and hiding from my kids who love to sit and read with me-e-e, if they can find me around the house. lol 💙💚💛🧡❤💙🤎🖤

That’s so-o wonderful ,when we can get away like that😂😎indeed they seem to know when I’ve slipped into a good book lol😂 – reading truly is fundamental – I think we’ve all been there, the minute you open a book, and then a small voice ask- so what are you reading?? Yes and yes on reading and I am reading “With Heart and Hand” which is Howard Thurman’s autobiography because I just realized that I had read lots of his thoughts without knowing what he thought about his life, a graphic novel, and a VM Burns cozy mystery … how different can they be. But then reading this my heart was grabbed by remembering waiting for “For Colored Girls” to come out … and then when it came as a play to Boston, Donald was managing it and I was so pregnant and when the baby came the women in the cast got together and bought me a diaper bag. I cried then and now as well.
that’s so awesome Howard Thurman’s is humanities best blueprint’ we are reading Jesus and the Disinherited thru bible zoom – oh wow! I truly want to see the play in person one of these days For Colored Girls” is so raw, & needed -same here cried just reading the book -glad you shared this with me- blessings Maren 💛🧡❤
